Work > invisible cities (Le città invisibili)

In Italo Calvino's 1972 publication, 'Invisible Cities,' Marco Polo sits with Kublai Khan, the Mongol Emperor, and is asked to described the cities that he has encountered in travels.

Lacking mastery of the Tatar language, he conveys his experience though gestures, signs, and symbols.

These ink drawings are 28 x 22 inches and were made on stage at Turner Hall at the Blair School of Music on Sunday September 14, 2025 in Nashville, TN as part of collaborative unit.

I thought about my contribution to the experience to be similar to Polo's use of signs and symbols as a language to more effectively convey meaning.

Special thanks to Molly Barth for organizing and my other esteemed colleagues who also collaborated/performed/presented that afternoon!
